Linux ext3 hard-disk support..
Hi, I'm newly registered to the forum, I've been using Windows/Total Commander since version 3.*.
I've been coming to the forum for about a year now, maybe two.
Anyway, I saw people contributing thoughts for the next version of Total Commander.
Well, I'm a big Linux-fan, I myself run Red Hat (9).
I recently installed Windows XP Professional as a dual-boot (tweaked it, secured it, etc).
The thing is.
When I'm on Linux I can freely access my Windows disk, and write too it, etc.
When I'm in Windows, however, I can't access my Linux drive because of its filesystem (ext3).
I now use PartitionMagic 8 to access it.
But it's only one window, can't open multiple, and it's very limited.
I'd like it for Total Commander to have a feature or something in which it can read/write/copy etc. from, and to the Linux disk.
BTW: I read all the posts about Total Commander for Linux, and I think it'd be great for Total Commander to have a Linux-variant.
(I know the problem with the sourcecode, I read the posts, I just want to let you know that I too, am waiting enthusiastically for it. )

Well, there is a FS-Plugin that can read ext2 (ext3 is downwards compatible to it) and ReiserFS. You can download it from the addon-section on www.ghisler.com

Regarding a Linux-version you should look at Krusader

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3
x64: Clients/Servers from Win7 to Win11 and Win2K12Srv to Win2K22Srv, mainly Win10 though.

Thanks everyone, I'll try using the plugin.
I just thought it'd be cool if it was implemented into TC itself (so maybe in the next version), heh.
Edit: The plugin works great, although I can't seem to copy to my Linux HD.. Oh well, thanks again!
Oh, and I'm using FAT32 on my Windows HD.
I'm writing from Linux to Windows because my Windows HD is 120 Gigabytes.
(I want to be able to get to my linux HD because it contains alot of important data, I sometimes need on Windows)

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
I kinda read over that.Jonas wrote:Regarding a Linux-version you should look at Krusader
Sorry.
Anyway; Yes, I know of it, and I also know of Midnight Commander and another I forgot the name of.
They're OK tools, but for some reason they are just nothing like Total Commander.
I'm going to check out Tux Commander soon, as I read in another post.
