Change default Unpack Dialog (ALT+F9) Options

Post by *zuccadoc »

Dear Reader,

every time I unpack something I like/have to select the option "Unpack each archive to a separate subdir (name of the archive)" in order to reduce the "file spreading" on the target directory.

How can I change it and set it by default?

In other words my dream is to press (ALT+F9) and to have the options "Unpack each archive to a separate subdir (name of the archive)" already selected.

Thanks for help!
I follow the truth.

I completely agree - this is something I needed for a long time. Generally, lots of dialogs have default vaules which every time must be made different to fit a personal style. I think a lot of users have a specific way of doing some things, and they must adjust the same way their preffered dialogs every time they need them.

So, it would be nice to have (wincmd.ini, ...) some file to adjust the default values of at least most common dialogs.

Two additional buttons on all relevant dialogs to:

1. "Save as my defaults"
2. "Reset to system defaults"

... would also enhance usability.

TC can do this already.
You will just need to set a parameter in wincmd.ini, section [Packer]. From the help:
Help wrote: UnZIPSeparateSubdirs=-1 Saves the state of the option "Unpack each archive to separate subdir":
0: Option disabled, changes will be remembered
1: Option enabled, changes will be remembered
-1: Option disabled, changes will NOT be remembered (default)
-2: Option enabled, changes will NOT be remembered
-3: Like -2, but only when more than one archive is selected
(Make sure you don't have two of these settings in the INI file.)
