New forum active now!

Post by *ghisler(Author) »

The new forum software is now active! Please report all errors here.

Note: The search function is deactivated until the search index has been generated. This can take several hours and slow the board down a lot.

Maybe I missed it, is there a button for next and previous topic, as in the old forum?

I suspect that there should be all message database converted. The forum should go offline for a few days to complete such conversion, I'm afraid.

Great! New forum looks good. Hope it also works good. Haven't seen anything strange so far.

Perhaps this message should be made an Announcement...

P.S. 1: I wonder, why do all usernames (in post details) are in red colour, as if they belong to Administrators group?

P.S. 2: OK, it seems to be a theme choice, it's just a little confusing.

Timezone is wrong. When i went to my Control Panel, i saw a suggestion for a +1 hour next to "My timezone" field (daylight saving had not been properly set). Also, the country had not been set. After setting it manually, everything seems normal though.

EDIT: I like the touch about GDPR in user controlpanel. Couldn't find more info on it though. Is it an addon or something built-in in phpbb?

I used the phpbb2 to phpbb3 converter coming with phpbb3. Unfortunately it is far from perfect.
I wonder, why do all usernames (in post details) are in red colour, as if they belong to Administrators group?
This was to show which links are adding the name to the quick reply (red), and which lead to the user info page (black). I have changed that now to show a * in front of the name. If you have a better idea, then please let me know.

It's a mod. You can find it here:

Is there anywhere where I can see an explanation for the different topic icons? (the old forum had a legend about it in the bottom of the page)

Especially what is the difference betwen http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/topic_read.gif and http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/topic_read_mine.gif

And what determines that a topic get this icon: http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/topic_read_hot.gif

I cannot find a public explanation anywhere.
topic_read_mine means that you have read all posts, and the thread contains post from you.
topic_read means that you have read all posts, and the thread contains NO posts from you.
The hot icon is given for threads with a certain minimum number of posts, which can be configured in the board settings.
Wrong escape inside code block of old threads.
It's indeed a conversion error. I have written a php script to fix it. You can find a list of fixed pages here:
https://www.ghisler.ch/board/fixedpages.htm

Please let me know if there are still faulty posts!
I didn't fix signatures, can anyone show me a sample bad signature?

The former is a normal topic you have read or is unread at the time. The same applies to the latter, but it's a topic that you are either subscribed to or you wrote at least one post in that topic - not sure which one.
And what determines that a topic get this icon: http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/topic_read_hot.gif
Maybe many posts in a topic within a small time frame?

The 2ghisler(Author)
Hmm, I don't think I have any influence on that...
That's a pity - it makes MANY old posts with valuable code useless.

The reason seems to be that the old forum saved the code with html entities - for example [ was saved as [
When transferring the old forum database to the new one, all the occurrences of & was changed to & - also where they should not have been changed like for [ wich got changed to [ - this is no longer a valid html entity.

If it is possible you can change all occurrences of & in the database to & - that will fix the problem - and since the pages uses <meta charset="utf-8" /> it is no problem since & will still be properly displayed without being an html entity.
