TC doesn't remember custom column view.
Hello.
I have made several custom column views.
When I select one of them, and then closes TC, then it is not remembered. It always start with Full View.
If there is more folder tabs open, when I close TC, it only resets the last used folder tab =the tab, that is showing op.
When I press one of the OTHER folder tabs, the custom column setting IS remembered.
I know, that it could be a setting, I, myself, made several years ago - but I, for the heck of it, can't find it now. I have searched the TC forums, and googled 'TC doesn't remember custom columns', etc.
PS: I feel it might be a very simple thing that 'stupid me' has overlooked. Sorry.

First things first: do you have write access to the INI
(menu "Configuration > Change Settings File Directly") .. modify something .. do "Save" work?

Are you using automatic view changes? This is triggered when you change directories, but also when you close and re-open Total Commander.

Re: TC doesn't remember custom column view.
Than you Stefan2 and Ghisler for the replies.
To Stefan2:
Yes, I have full owner rights and write access to all files in the TC dir, which btw. is C:/t/
To ghisler:
It doesn't make a difference if 'Automatically switch view mode on directory change' is selected or not. Btw. I have no 'Rules' defined.
Further info: The problem does NOT occur on my Windows laptop, which uses Windows 10 x64 (latest update)
My 'gaming-etc' desktop PC, with the problem, uses Windows 8.1 x64.
I have, of course, tried to compare the TC settings with no luck.

What are your settings for "Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "Operation" -> "Save on exit" -> "Directories" AND "Panels (brief/full etc.)"
What happens if you click "Configuration" -> "Save Settings", just before you close down TC and opens TC again?

Re: TC doesn't remember custom column view.
Thank you PeterMad. (and still Stefan2 and Ghisler)
Your answers triggered a lot more (hours) of settings-testing..
The culprit was:
[Configuration]
FixEmptyPanel=1
When set to '1', TC doesn't remember the initially appearing custom column, when started. When set to '0', it does!

Re: TC doesn't remember custom column view.
FixEmptyPanel=1 is used for a faulty display driver resulting in empty TC file panels on startup. It shouldn't be used if there is no problem without it.

Re: TC doesn't remember custom column view.
I think, I just tried FixEmptyPanel as a test at some point, and then forgot about it.
