TC 9.12 Win10 Save Position Issue

Post by *peenjke »

Good day,
Win 10 Prof + 9.12 TC don't save position when exit.
Operation -> Save on exit (checked)

Conf -> Save position doesn't save the position.

If you are using the default menu, go to Configuration> Save Position, or assign the internal command cm_ConfigSavePos to a buttonbar button.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Are other settings NOT saved or just the position? If TC.ini file has been set to be saved in TC's installation folder and TC is installed under "Program Files", is TC being run "As admin"?

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3
x64: Clients/Servers from Win7 to Win11 and Win2K12Srv to Win2K22Srv, mainly Win10 though.

Settings in Operation -> Save on exit aren't related to saving position

I'm aiming at "not having permission to write the ini file because it's located in TC's folder under program files"...

I noticed that you were answering the question without notice that the settings he mentioned had nothing to do with the problem.

Anyway, I made a mistake too as I suggested an answer he had already tested.

I had noticed it. Both settings are saved in the same INI file though (assuming no redirection is taking place), that's why i asked if other settings are saved normally, to make sure there is no chance of not having permissions to save to the INI file.

TC installed to C:\\Users\username\totalcmd

I want to correct myself:
TC position in display area save when TC in the middle of the screen
But i want to see TC on 3/4 of display (see attach) --> and when i place TC like this, push "Save position" + "Save Setting" --> Close.

Open TC 64bit.

Could it be that the window is docked (AeroSnap)?
ghisler(Author) wrote: 2018-06-01, 14:28 UTC Unfortunately I cannot fix it for docked windows, because there is no Windows command to set a window to a docked state.

The best you can do is move the undocked window to the desired position WITHOUT causing the dock/snap mechanism! Then the coordinates can be saved. Otherwise TC will only see the coordinates BEFORE the dock/snap was activated.
