Mp3Tag Button with %P%S: "Too many files selected" error (more than 420 files)

Post by *drbeat »

I use %P%S parameters for button but I get that error for (more than 420) selected files. Any way to bypass this restriction of TC?

This is not (only) a restriction of TC but of Windows and/or the launched program because %S puts all selected files in the command line, and the command line is limited in length (e.g. 1024 characters).

The better way is to pass a single file name to the launched program, containing a list of selected files (%L). However, that's only possible if the launched program supports such lists. But if it does, it's (almost) without limits regarding the number of selected files. If MP3tag doesn't support such parameter, you're out of luck.
