9.50b1 - Search with 'Everything': Show command sent to 'Everything' in search status bar.

Post by *tuska »

Hi,
I do not understand this point or have not yet seen a use case on my PC:
HISTORY.TXT wrote:16.10.19 Release Total Commander 9.50 beta 1
22.07.19 Added: Search with 'Everything': Show command sent to 'Everything' in search status bar.
Repeated calls are shown with the file numbers requested, e.g. 10000- (32/64)
Currently, I only get this view in the status bar:
HISTORY.TXT wrote:16.10.19 Release Total Commander 9.50 beta 1
22.07.19 Added: Search with 'Everything': Show percent of the search results transferred to Total Commander
and added to the result list (Everything reports the total number of found files) (32/64)
even if I start a longer search query, such as

Code: Select all

ev:dc:01.01.2019..26.11.2019
Does anyone know how this works or can someone give an example?

Windows 10 Pro (x64) Version 1909 (OS build 18363.476)

If I start with Everything selected something like
ev:c:\users
it takes a long time and shows the percentage, file names and number of files while executing the query

22.07.19 Added: Search with 'Everything': Show percent of the search results transferred to Total Commander
This one can easily be seen, just by searching with a blank "Search for" field and c:\ in the "Search in" field and 'Everyting' enabled- see: https://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/everythingpct.png

If 'Everyting' is disabled, no percentage is shown.

Thank you for your answers.

Mmh, I only see the percentage and file names in the status bar - during the search -
and finally the result of found files and folders,
but not a "command sent to 'Everything' in search status bar".

Furthermore I don't see something like...:
"Repeated calls are shown with the file numbers requested, e.g. 10000-"

2petermad
Who will ever switch off 'Everything'? :)

Strange, I see all of this including the file numbers requested.
I had Everything running long before its integration into TC
and I was suggesting this integration long ago :D

Just one more question:
Do you see more in your status line than I did on this video?
If so, what does the status line look like?

Thank you!
I still do not understand the entry

Code: Select all

22.07.19 Added: Search with 'Everything': Show command sent to 'Everything' in search status bar.
Repeated calls are shown with the file numbers requested, e.g. 10000- (32/64)
in the file HISTORY.TXT, but I would leave it at that.

I won't :D
(Just downloaded and "installed" version 9.50 Beta 7 for this reason)

That "Show command sent to 'Everything' in search status bar." will show the search query *before* results come in.
Your system is probably too fast to notice it, but my system isn't:

 I intended to post a screenshot here, but this forum does not support that?

In that case: when searching for ev: folder:, the statusbar (briefly) shows Everything: folder:

Thank you for your exact description!
I did a test again and I could do watch the same now, too in a recorded video - between the 2nd and 3rd second.

I don't like linking external images on a forum.
Sooner or later (read: sooner) that will result in "image not found"; rendering otherwise useful threads useless.
But in this (not very important) case that would not be a big problem.

Anyway ... mystery solved :)

What a coincidence: TinyPic -the service recommended in the link you posted - no longer exists. All pictures posted there are no longer accessible since 2019-09-16)
I rest my case ... ;)

Thanks for the hint - that's for sure is also very interesting to Stefan2 ...
For future cases, you may be able to use an image hoster at the bottom of the linked page under "Some Image Hosting Sites:".

Why look for picture hosting?
For any file hosting you can use OneDrive, GoogleDrive, Dropbox or any other account supported by TC Cloud plugin.

How do you solve that e.g. with GoogleDrive one does not see the real name under "Details" after calling the link?
