Show only files with same extension ignoring selection

Post by *bogordo »

Hi,

When i select a .mp4 and move the cursor to press the "Show only files with same extension" button i get filtering of .ion extension because in the act of moving the cursor some other extension gets over-preselected, thus, my selected extension is ignored. Illustrated here:
https://ibb.co/b32YdFd

Is any way of solving this behaviour? (this is working ok for BranchviewSelected, wheere does not matter where the cursor is that it obeys the selected folder...)

Are you holding down the mouse button, while you move the cursor? If you are, then don't.

Have you set the SpecialCursorMovement parameter to anything but 0 in your wincmd.ini file?

What command do you use for "Show only files with same extension"? - TC does not have an internal command for that.

I guess he uses yours :)

Code: Select all

[em_ext_show_ext]
cmd=cd
param=%Z;"*.%E"
menu=Show Only Files with Same Extension
button=wcmicons.dll,25

Hi Peter,
No, i not pressing down while moving.
I don't have "SpecialCursorMovement" entry.
If i am not wrong i am using "em_ext_show_ext", from your Extended menus plugin, time ago i took some parts of it.

Double thanks BTW ;)

I expexted so.

I realize that you probably select the file with either Insert or Space (and SpaceMovesDown=1 in wincmd.ini). When you do that the cursor jumps to the next file. The command works on the file under the cursor, which is not necessarily selected. The solution is to simply not SELECT the file with the desires extension, but just place the cursor on it - or move the cursor back on the file, if it is selected with Ins or Space. With cursor, I here mean the files selection cursor in the file panel, not the mouse sursor.

Well, i don't have "jump" thing, is only that moving the mouse from selected to the button i pass over the .ion file so it gets pre-selected.

Fine, using keyboard or moving mouse in horizontal until i reach the vertical button bar and select the button solves the "issue" :)

Thank you very much Peter.

That should NOT happen!!!! Do you have any mouse "enhancing" software running?

Could you maybe try and see if you have the same behaviour, if you start TC with a clean ini file?

Sorry, maybe i am explaining poorly, i call pre-select to the rectangle around the filename https://ibb.co/b32YdFd (.ion file), thus: "overing" the file, this is normal as far as i know (and the working way of lot of commands).

Thank you,

Rectangle selection is in no way normal for selecting files
and almost unusable for large number of files which requires scrolling.
I guess that a lot of users like me even have disabled this mode of selection.

bogordo,
Are you sure you are not using Configuration - Options - Operation - Open files and directories with a single click?
If yes, just hold Ctrl while moving the mouse and the rectangle will not follow the mouse.

That explains the behaviour - To avoid that the file-selection cursor follows the mouse just change SingleClickStart from 1 to 5 in wincmd.ini

Personally I would get crazy if I had to use that SingleClickStart=1 behaviour, with the file-selection cursor following the mouse. :shock:

@Hacker @petermad

That's it!! i use single click for opening (i love it), the Ctrl thing works perfect, didn't know it.

Peter, tried the SingleClickStart=5, works fine but really like the "visual/feedback/scan/movement" of the pink rectangle moving when i move the mouse cursor around, for clarifying: it's not selecting anything, it's hovering only, for selection i use right mouse button (opening with left -single click opening-).
