Modifying button bar content annoyance

Post by *DRP535 »

This has annoyed me about editing the contents of button bars in TC since TC was WC and NC before that, but I've never asked what I'm doing wrong, so today is the day I'm changing that.

Whenever I go to edit a button bar that is NOT my default button bar (such as a cascading sub-button bar), after I've done the change, I get this popup that says "Do you want to make this button bar permanent?" The answer is always NO, so I click that and then the current button bar is changed to be the one I've just edited, which is not what I wanted. I then have to go back and force the current button bar back to being the default again.

How the hell do you edit a non-default button bar WITHOUT it becoming the new current button bar?

If you have cascading bars, you can just right click on the button in the main bar which would open the sub-bar. Then choose "Edit linked button bar". This will allow you to edit the sub-bar without the "make permanent" message.

Thank you Christian. That works. Wish I'd asked this about 10 years ago
