is TC eating my battery in Windows 10?

TC (9.51) is always opened on my laptop. Since I experience poor battery life, I checked what's eating my battery in settings. It turns out that Windows thinks that 72% is due to TC. I cannot imagine this to be true, since it's 99% of the time idle in the background.
Any idea what's happening?

Well, you should check the exact CPU usage and CPU time used by the TC process(es). This can be done with Process Hacker and/or Sysinternals Process Explorer.

Where exactly did you see that 72% number?

Windows Settings / Display, sound, notifications, power / Battery / See which apps are affecting your battery life -> shows apps in order of power usage
In Sysinternals I can locate process Totalcmd64, but cannot find CPU-data

You can see CPU usage directly in the CPU column of the main window. Not sure if CPU time column is enabled by default, but if not, double click on the process and check its details; in Process Explorer it's the Performance tab, in Process Hacker it's Statistics.

Well, the CPU times are relative to the system's uptime. How long has your system been running? Somehow the values don't add up. Normally the total time is the sum of kernel and user time, so I guess it should be 0:10:10.140.

No idea where Windows is getting this information from. The simplest thing to do would be to check the battery runtime, once with TC running and once without using it at all. I know the latter is really hard .
