Bug or configuration issue? Filecopy with filter not working anymore

Post by *Petter »

Hi
I want to copy files with full path but only files in subfolders called "Myselection" from one drive to a backup drive.

After pressing F5 I put in the filter string "Myselection\* !**\" in the field "Only files of this type"
This has worked out very well until lately, but its not working anymore...

Even a simple search command myselection\*.* does not work for me anymore
Any idea why?

I found a kind of workaround using the Everything and Copytree plugin but this copy method is extremely slow.

Please help! :)

It's not quite clear what you want to achieve.
Myselection\*
would copy files directly located in subfolders named Myselection, and also files in otherfolder\Myselection\ etc., but nothing else.
This works fine here.

!**\ is wrong - to exclude empty folders, use |**\ (vertical line).

Thanks for reply, maybe I was not clear.
I want to copy files (with full path) in folders with name myselection only. For example: files in e:\dir1\ex\myselection\ and e:\dir2\tmp\myselection\ only. Not files in e:\dir2\, e:\dir1\ex and so on.
If myselection is empty, I just want to skip it, hence the suffix |**\ (sorry for typo in my first post).

The trouble is, the filter string "myselection\* |**\" used to work ok but does not anymore.
Not even a filter like "myselection\*" returns (copies) any files even if there is plenty of files in the myselection folder.

Any clue why?

I have just tried this in Total Commander 10 (32-bit and 64-bit) with filter
myselection\* |**\
(note: no double quotes) and it worked just fine. Please make sure you didn't make a typo in the directory name "myselection". Or is this just a placeholder for something else? If the name contains spaces, you must put the entire path in double quotes, e.g.
"my selection\*" |**\
