7z 7zip error if Asian characters in name

Post by *gridsleep »

When attempting to open a .7z file that has Asian characters in the file name, Total Commander reports that the file has an error and it does not open. The file can be opened using WinRar, or by using TC after deleting the Asian characters from the file name. The file should not have to be renamed for TC to be able to view the file using its internal unpacker.

Please install one of the plugins 7z or Total7zip, they can handle it.

I had forgotten about this problem, since I had not run across such a named file since. I have retrieved 10.5b, and the .7z extension, and will test them. Thanks.

Just rename a 7zip file yourself and add some Asian characters to the name to reproduce the fix.
