Auto Switch Mode does not work instantly for a duplicated tab

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Auto Switch Mode does not work instantly for a duplicated tab

Post by *fvpetrov »

Hi,

I have a rule which hides some files in a directory if files of some type are present
(hide *.aux and other if *.tex files are present).

This rule works like a charm with View Mode / Auto Switch Mode,
when I enter the directory by mouse/keyboard navigation.

If I duplicate the tab by double-clicking on the right side of the rightmost tab, I see all files.
I would expect to have the files filtered according to the Auto Switch Mode.

As Auto Switch Mode states, "Automatically switch view mode on directory change",
I cannot assume that this is a bug  , because technically there is no directory change,
but directory's content is directly shown for the very first time.

If I leave the directory and enter it again, the filter/view applies.

Edit: entering the directory using "Directory hotlist" doesn't work either.

Seen on TC 10.00, 64 bit (2021-06-10),
Windows 10 Pro, 20H2, OS build 19042.1165

Thank you!

Duplicating the tab keeps the current directory, so it's not a directory change.
Edit: entering the directory using "Directory hotlist" doesn't work either.
Please give me more details. "Directory hotlist" does cause a directory change (or do you stay in the same directory?).

I retract my statement, changing the directory by "Directory hotlist" works as expected.

Thanks for your response!

Well, this looks like a usability issue.
I would expect that duplicating the tab keeps original's tab view.
