Weird behavior of the LAN plugin

Post by *lhalda »

I've just discovered a very strange behavior of the LAN plug-in. I wanted to connect to my computer's shared 'F' folder (connected via Wi-Fi), but when typed address with IP (\\192.168.0.103\F), it gave me a 'Error 53 while connecting' error. I made sure that ping to that IP works fine. I thought that plug-in doesn't work at all, because it happened several times before, but then I found that when I give him a address with the computer's name (\\LUH\F), it works. My question is obvious - WHY is it doing that? I thought that the LAN plugin is somehow broken, because I always use the IP address.

There have been various discussions about this problem here in the forum. It's a bug (or lack of features) of the Windows Mobile operating system.
