Three very big differences:

A) You cannot save tabs (and file lists) for future use. ("projects")
B) Absolute necessity to work from within TC
C) You need PowerPro and to know how to use it...

I'm waiting for version 10.2 ;)

That's the best version, just look at UltraEdit32.

Balderstrom,

>> I'm waiting for version 10.2

<LOL> I'll be in my grave by then <G>

Sriously, I do hope you upgraded...

Programs come to age and do not require more updates, UNLESS they are commercial, like:

>> That's the best version, just look at UltraEdit32

... Who ship version after version, each slower to load than the previous one, and full of (mostly) useless "features".

They have to, as well as M$, because they need the income. Freeware is different.

I use many very old utilities that work perfectly.

I think that UEdit's most useable version was around 7 or 8, I stopped paying for their upgrades a long time ago...

Hi all,

Sorry but there's still a newer version...

5.8.2009: Version 4.2.6.0.

I had some errors in Keyboard shortcuts, mainly due to the two languages... I corrected them (and the two helps (FR and UK), and the invisible kbd help (Right Click on the Help button), etc. etc. <G> ).

10.20d+ is exactly the UE version I work for years now.

UE is amusing software, from my recollection from 9+ they have released 9.1, 9.2, 10.1, 10.2, 11.1, 11.2 ad nauseum to whatever crazy number 16? it is now, which is more akin to UE-OS. So you only ever get ~2 releases for registering, plus some possible out-of-sequence bugFixes.
Though on the plus side, it was the first app that I recall that let me directly edit ToolBars and MainMenus (Edit/View/etc).

I've since moved on to ConTEXT, MetaPad, NotePad++, NotePad2, TED NotePad and sometimes the defunct Crimson Editor, aka forked to Emerald Editor which is pretty much defunct and abandoned too.

UE 10ish was the best of its iterations, but as Boofo says bloatware junk these days. And since no one picked up on the joke (sarcasm? fecitious comment) Eitang's little app has gone from version 1 to 4 in ~1 week. I expected it to reach v.10 within the month.

Also Office 2000 was v10 :-)

Balderstrom,

>> Eitang's little app has gone from version 1 to 4 in ~1 week

<LOL> Version 5.1 rather... I meant this as a joke, after our discussions about version number etc.

Almost none of my programs has version numbers except very technical ones, related to database programming in Delphi, as htese are used and discussed by other members of that very small community.

I only recently met ConText and find it very good. I only wish I could exit it with ESCAPE... I also use UE 11 as it is only slightly larger than 10c and loads fast enough. NotePad++ and NotePad2 are also in use over here, as well as a really tiny editor I wrote for "just retouching" this INI file...

@Eitang, yes Notepad++ has been annoying me. It has no way to define a "String" hilighter for User Defined Languages. And confuses "./*" and ".*/" for Multiline comment begin/ends. When I asked about it on the Forums I was advised to edit the source and fix it.

"String" hilighting -- something that even the tiny NotePad2 can do, and ConTEXT has had for at least 5 or 6 years. As well both use a nice TEXT format for hilight definition as opposed to NotePad++'s next to uneditable by hand XML.
*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.
