Yes, but not enough changes to make it worth the while to pack new versions yet.

You have

Code: Select all

{LISTER}
5912="&Next File\tN / Alt+Right"
5913="&Previous\tP / Alt+Left"
but Alt+Right and Alt+Left do not work for me whereas N and P do and load the next or previous file from selection.

Well, it works here - and it is documented in the Help file - so something must be stealing your keypress.

Bug with Lister menu

Post by *robinsiebler »

First off, excellent job!

I found a minor bug. If the TC window is too close to the bottom of the screen, when you click the Lister menu, the menu covers the file menu. See screenshot.

Well, it can not be a bug in the menu, but rather a bug in TC or in your Windows theme or how the two interact.

With the themes I use < http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/longmenu.png >, I get an arrow in the bottom of the menu for scrolling further down. I also get an arrow in the top. I see neither on your screenshot - please try with another another windows theme. Also try with other programs with long menus, if you get the same as in TC.

Peter, first a very warm thank you for all your effort. I enjoy your extended menus for a couple of weeks now and won't miss them anymore :-)

One question regarding lister.exe: Could you please make a version that supports reading from STDIN? It is understood that this is not trivial as one would also need to specify the file type somehow.

Basically I'd like to do something like this:

Code: Select all

7za.exe x file.mhz -so | lister.exe -type mht
It is understood that I always can do something like the following but it's a) slower when TEMP is not on a ram disk, and I b) have to clean up the temp file, too, and c) have to make sure that the extracted file gets the right file extension:

Code: Select all

7za.exe x "file.mhz" -so >"%TEMP%\file.mht"  && lister.exe "%TEMP%\file.mht"
Regards,
Buzz

PS: It would also be great if lister.exe could use all installed TC lister plugins just by providing COMMANDER_PATH as another command line parameter or env variable.

I am not the author of lister.exe - it is Ghisler himself. The version I provide with my menu pack is not even the newest one - the newest version of lister.exe has some problems with the GUI in the setup dialog, that is why I don't provide that.

But the newest version of lister.exe can be found at https://plugins.ghisler.com/addons/lister32.zip - maybe that can do what you want.

With version 7 and 8 of TC you can start TC's internal lister from commandline, so you don't really need lister.exe anymore:

totalcmd.exe /S=L:PHTMLView file.mht
or just
totalcmd.exe /S=L file.mht
should do it. Se more about the /S:L commandline parameter in TC's Help file.

@buzzlightyear may I ask what is the .mhz format? First time I heard of it, is it part of ie9 (10).
is it a gziped mht like svgz is to svg?
mht is a bit strange format still not a standard.
If you need single file compressed html files why not try chm (compressed html, it uses lzx instead of deflate), there's a wcx plugin that makes those files
http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/chmdir.html

or a ton of third party utilities I use htm2chm http://www.softpedia.com/get/Authoring-tools/Help-e-book-creators/htm2chm.shtml
the home page is dead.

just save your files as regular htm and then pack them to chm, lister with the htmlview (or ieview, or ulister) can show chm files without the need to unpack them.

I found a minor bug in the Help section of wcmd_winxp_1_eng.ini.

I had to change

[em_ext_description]
cmd=%COMMANDER_EXE% /S=L:AT1 %COMMANDER_PATH%\descript.ion
menu=File Descriptions
button=%COMMANDER_EXE%,24

to

[em_ext_description]
cmd=%COMMANDER_EXE% /S=L:AT1 "%COMMANDER_PATH%\descript.ion"
menu=File Descriptions
button=%COMMANDER_EXE%,24

Otherwise I got an error about not being able to find “C:\Program” (I have TC installed in the Program Files dir). I had to make the same change to all similar help entries.

Thank you for your awesome menus!
