Plugin "fileindir.wdx" - search dirs which contain specific file name

Post by *Peter »

I think it would be fine to start a new, clearly named thread for this plugin.

Where to find:
http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/fileindir.html

Former thread:
Problem with return dir name in search result (wdx plugin)
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=31084
What is my goal? I want to - after typing pft.res or other file name - in "Value" field,
get ONLY DIRECTORY(IES) result(s), which contain this file from "Value" field in search result. Not only filename.

Problem: Option "Only search in selected directories&qu

Post by *Peter »

The plugin seem to have problems with the search-options of TC.

Option "Only search in selected directories":
If enabled, the plugin finds nothing.

Option "search only in .... sublevels":
If enabled, the plugin searches still the entire structure.

Hmmm, like I wrote in other thread. I made this plugin for myself and to use it separatly without other options in Find Window. I have less TC plugin writing knowledge, so if you want try to modify plugin source and recompile under Delphi to fix plugin to wokr like you want. If you do not have programming knowledge maybe someone other can fix my plugin to work in better way. Right now I have less time to modify and also low knowledge. And I do not have sute that changing options in gerneral tab will always work for content plugin. I thought plugin can not read all search options except these from "Plugins" Tab. If someone can help please write here how to modify my Delphi code (included with plugin) and still make plugin as simple and as smalleest as possible. Forgive my bad English.

Yes, I know. Please don't take my remarks as criticism - they are only comments for further development.

Yes, I hope so too. I'm not a programmer, so I can not help.

Thanks and regards

An alternative plugin is available: http://totalcmd.net/plugring/fileindir64.html

@Peter Maybe you want to check the issues you reported earlier.

Thanks, Thomas.

Here is my old post from year 2012:

a) Search only in selected folders:
Seem to be OK

b) search only in .... sublevels":
It seem that it counts always 1 level too deep. I defined "search in 2 sub-levels" and got results from 3rd level (but not from 4th..)

c) Standard search versus Plugin search
(I never looked at this before, so maybe this is standard behaviour).
I defined standard search for "hello.txt" and "fileindir/dirfiles: hello.txt" and got no results, although both searches find the file when they are searching alone
