Dark Help files v. 11.50 (English and German) can now be downloaded at:

• Download Darkhelp (1.85 Mb)

• Download Darkhelp 2 (1.85 Mb)

• Download Darkhelp and Darkhelp2 with support for external CSS script for color customization (English only) (1.15 Mb)

Darkhelp 2 has a dark background in the left menu panel, but the menu items has a white background.
It is unfortunately not possible to make the left menu panel background all black.

It is unfortunately not possible to make the left menu panel background all
black.

The TotalcmdDark.chm (English Dark Help) file has to be placed in
Total Commanders PROGRAM directory in order to work.

The Wcmd_deuDark.chm (German Dark Help) file AND the Wcmd_deu.chm
file both has to be placed in Total Commanders LANGUAGE directory in
order to work.

Just a curious observation if I may, but could I inquire as to the logic of placing the German language files in the English folder name and the English language files in the German folder name of this package?

If you already have the English totalcmdDark.chm file in TC's program directory, this will be the default Dark help file. So you you don't need another English WCMD_ENGDARK.CHM help file in the Language directory. But a German WCMD_DEUDARK.CHM file will come into use if you change language to German.

And vice versa.

My Webhost serverfacilities burned down, and their backup wasn't complete so https://madsenworld.dk/tc-darkhelp/totalcmd951_darkhelp.zip was one of the missing files - it is up again now.

The package is now self installing - so just double-click on the downloaded totalcmd1000_darkhelp.zip file to install the Dark Help for both English and German.

Wow thanks. Had no idea a new version of TC was even being worked on. Received no notifications of any betas or new releases at all. Not even the Check for new updates thing within the program itself works, so this was a bit of an eye-opener for me!

Understand the difference between Darkhelp 1 and Darkhelp 2. Also understand they used to be combined as one package and are now separated. I have installed an older version that came from a combined package installation. Is it possible to switch between Darkhelp 1 and Darkhelp 2 whilst running to compare layouts for visual appeal? If so, where is the switch or config change required to do this?

No, there is no way of switching between the two - but the ONLY difference between the two is that the background in the left menu panel (when unfolded) is dark in Darkhelp 2, but unfortunately menu items has a white background - that cannot be avoided. Personally I dont like that, so that is why I offer both versions.

Actually it is possible to make a kind of switching (two buttons), but for me to explain how the easiest way, I would need to know which language you are using in your TC.

1. Download and install (double-click the file from within TC)the external English language files here: https://plugins.ghisler.com/languages/wcmd_eng.zip
2. Copy and rename %COMMANDER_PATH%\Totalcmd.chm to %COMMANDER_PATH%\LANGUAGE\Wcmd_eng.chm
3. Copy and rename %COMMANDER_PATH%\TotalcmdDark.chm to %COMMANDER_PATH%\LANGUAGE\Wcmd_engDark.chm
4. In %COMMANDER_PATH%\LANGUAGE\ copy Wcmd_eng.inc, Wcmd_eng.lng and Wcmd_eng.mnu to: Wcmd_en2.inc and Wcmd_en2.lng and and Wcmd_en2.mnu
5. Copy the TotalcmdDark.chm from totalcmd1050_darkhelp2.zip to: %COMMANDER_PATH%\LANGUAGE\Wcmd_en2Dark.chm

Make these two buttons:

To make the buttons:
1. Mark the text in the box here above (click SELECT ALL).
2. Copy it to the ClipBoard (press Ctrl+C).
3. Right click on TC's buttonbar and choose "Paste".

I can only recommend to use this for English, since plugins will otherwise not be translated.

I tried to use filenames like wcmd_2_eng.lng and Wcmd_2_engDark.chm but that doesn't currently work viewtopic.php?p=418513#p418513

Thanks. Did all that but it doesn't change the Darkhelp background. The help window always displays in the Darkhelp 1 colouring type, never switching to Darkhelp 2 scheme. Tried shutting down and restarting TC, but makes no difference. Not a problem though, I'll just live with it. Thanks for trying.
