I use Microsoft Sans Serif, 8, bold - which is default, and it is NOT the same as MS Sans Serif.

Microsoft Sans Serif, 8, bold is TC's default now (at least on XP) not MS Sans Serif.

Here are some facts about the new standard font in Vista and Se7en:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Segoe -> Controversies :lol:

Segoe UI is the font used in the filepanel and the dialogs.
You can find it in several Vista-mizers (theme-packs) for XP like in Vishal Gupta's:

Hi, I'm a new TC user. I'll try it over the next couple of days to see how I like it.

Admittedly at first glance, I was about to skip this program after seeing how awful the font was.

There are many Windows Explorer alternatives out there on the market so first impression is important. IOW it's usually safe to assume that the developer is probably not doing a good enough job on the backend if they're not putting enough thought into designing the frontend, which we all can see.

Fixed the fonts to be the same as what I'm currently using on Windows Vista.

I use Tahoma because you can distinguish between the two letters "l" and "I". I don't understand why there are so many fonts where this is not possible. What did their creators think? It seems idiotic to me.

In the meantime, I have switched away from "Microsoft Sans Serif":
  • On Windows systems up to and including Windows XP, the file lists and the main window are displayed in Tahoma,8,b and the dialogue boxes in Tahoma,8,normal
  • On my Vista system, the file lists are displayed in 1xSegoe UI,9,b, the main window is displayed in 1xSegoe UI,8,b and the dialogue boxes in Tahoma,8,normal

--> Which font are you using in the file panel ?

I always use Arial 8 "standard" (normal) for the files list, the main window and the dialog boxes.

Thanks.

Segoe UI 8, normal. Much friendly for the eyes than the MS Sans Serifs.

Microsoft Sans Serif Normal size 8 in file list. (the truetype version) Size 9 of same fonts in other two selections, because of problem with clipped fonts in dialog boxes. 1280x1024 res on 19" screen.

Tried others, but Sans Serif seemed best.

There shouldn't be any bottom clipping of Microsoft Sans Serif up to 10pt anymore - see: http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=184493#184493
