Here are some abbreviations I've seen before...
Any chance of some uniformity ?

I prefer TC if the context allows it. It is short, but at same time it's likely not to be unique.
TCMD is the next best choice, because CMD is quite a common abbreviation for command (eg. "CMD.EXE").
I would dismiss TCOM because COM is too much associated with communication or with Microsoft's Component Object Model.
T-Com is already occupied by the "Deutsche Telekom".
TotalCmd is already "officially" introduced by "TOTALCMD.EXE", but it is not really an abbreviation. It's main purpose was to adhere to the DOS 8.3 file naming scheme.

On principle I would not restrict myself to one abbreviation, but would allow the following set: TC, TCMD, TotalCmd.

I must agree that jb's explanations are very logical and sensemaking.

I also agree that the T-Com is already occupied by the "Deutsche Telekom" and thus that I call the commander this way :(
I don't rememeber what was exactly the reason ("Total Anihilation" or "Mr. T") that associated this word to the Commander in my mind with these letters. (Maybe it was an advertisement for the Deutsche Telekom at all :) ). Just couldn't resist to vote for that
However will people "abbreviate" the name it doesn't matter as long everyone knows what are you talking about.

I also came to this Ill abbreviation.
Windows-Total Commander
With all respect. As a memorial... But never try to use it :!:

Hmm... Maybe the abbreviations are not so good at all
And maybe the neutral all purpose word Commander will just do the thing. But TC is TC. Just real...

In my messages to Christian I always wrote "T.com".
IMHO, pretty one :)
