What should be the default for allowed search criteria for folders?

Default settings changes: Sorting directories like files

Post by *Lefteous »

Many new users in the forum ask how to sort directories not just by name but by the current sort criteria.

What should be the default for allowed sort criteria for folders?

Lefteous,
Perhaps you mean sort criteria instead of search criteria?

I also think that the option of sorting directories by extension should be the default.

So:
SortDirExt=1
SortDirsByName=0

The problem is the following: People may have directories called
servername.de
where .com clearly isn't an extension in the classical way. Therefore sorting directories by such "extensions" wouldn't make much sense.

You are right, but if a person actually wants to sort directories by extension, he now have to know that there is an obscure ini-file parameret for that.

So maybe this option should be put in the configuration dialog - now, so it can be translated before 8.5 is released.
