Feat. REQ: Close TCmd but leave running Bg tasks open...

Post by *wanderer »

Hi

A small feature request. Sometimes, i have some copy functions running in the background that may take quite some time to finish. It would be nice if the following option existed when i try to close TC: Main TC window will close (actually become hidden) without asking to kill the background tasks. It will leave them running. If all tasks finish correctly, TC will unload otherwise it will display a message saying "Some tasks have failed. Do you still wish to close TC?". If the answer is no, the main TC window will become visible again to give you the opportunity to repeat the task.

Normally using latest TC on:
x32: WinXPx32 SP3 (very rarely nowadays).
x64: Clients/Servers - Win10/Win11 and Win2K16 to Win2K22, mainly Win10 though.

Minimize to tray is not enough? You can even hide the icon in XP!
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Hi SanskritFritz. You didn't get my intention. I want to close TC, not get it out of the way by minimizing it. If i setup a task that takes some time (i.e. 10 minutes), i want to have the option to close TC automatically after this task has finished. That's why i proposed to allow TC to "close itself" when you press the close button and not complain that "there are running tasks that will be aborted if you close TC now".

2 pdavit, clo: :) :) :)

I see.
Maybe this can help as a workaround:
http://www.ghisler.ch/wiki/index.php/Shutdown_computer_after_download_or_copy
If you dont want to shutdown, only close TC, just replace the "Shutdown 1" line with this:

Code: Select all

DetectHiddenWindows On
WinClose ahk_class TTOTAL_CMD
DetectHiddenWindows Off
(Not tested)
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Another plugin? Oh boy. I'm starting to feel a little  (dizzy :) ) with all the plugins i'm using. This hole thing is becoming a little hard to manage in all 3 PCs i'm using, both at home and at work...

Anyway, thanx for the info. I'll try it.

Maybe a synchronization plugin would help... ;)

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Yup, i had discussed this idea some time ago but although everyone agreed that a plugin management system would be nice, noone volunteered to create one (including myself!) :)

I have several ideas on how such a system might work but unfortunatelly i don't have enough time (and the appropriate web-programming knowledge) to implement it myself at this moment. Hmmm, i wonder how many people would be interested to work on an opensource plugin system for TC...

EDIT: Expressing my ideas on it at this link: http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=7875
