Desktop(explorer.exe) replacement functions [Request]

Post by *D555 »

If we put TC on a place explorer.exe , we'll get a nice desktop replacement !
But we shoud need some functions... Famous are:
1. system tray view
2. something like "start menu"
3. task bar
and maybe others....

If you want to replace explorer use bbLean in combination with TC.

Hi, Dp555.

You might have used the forum search function and searched for "replace explorer". You would have received a very long list of threads dedicated to this topic / question / request.

To get an idea just jump right here, please: how can i replace explorer whit TC.

Majki is absolutely right, in order to replace the Windows Shell Explorer, TC will not be enough, you will need one of the available shell replacements.

Some of them you may find listed in this horrible monster thread: Useful 3rd party tools to complement TC.

No TC plugin will ever be able to function as a Windows Shell Replacement. So chances for your request are pretty low I would say.

Kind regards,
Karl

Thanks for useful links !
I always know how to replace explorer :),

An idea, request, is in - how to make explorer functions available in TC ...
it is really great to not use explorer..., when most of functions are - systray, bars with links and field with icons on area :))).
So, would be very sad if TC couldn't replace it ...

May be an idea is to make TC more flexible - something like modular construction - so it will can to replace explorer :))) .

Making a shell replacement extension for a file manager just doesn't make sense IMHO. Just like an IM extension wouldn't really make sense. Instead, take the advice and build what you want with BlackBox. If you make some nice bb-extensions for TC, that would be way more interesting (and more the 'right way around' as I see it).

you could try the tiny alternative shell LiteShell. I think it would work well with TC.
