Can't copy VMware directory to local directory

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Can't copy VMware directory to local directory

Post by *peter bjelvert »

When copying a directory with subdirectory from a vmware network directory to a local directory it fails, nothing get copied.
This has worked in version 4 something.
E.g.
From directory: \\.host\Shared Folders\DriveD\temp (yes, it has a dot in)
To directory: C:\temp

Not confirmed here.
Host: WinXP with latest patch level.
Guests: Win95 ... Vista.

Does it work with MS Explorer?
If YES, use:
(it's from TC help)
Configuration - Copy/Delete ... copy+paste via Explorer (only in case of copy problems) ...
INI switch:
ExplorerForCopy=0 Use built-in copy function (more flexible) or Explorer (copy+paste) for F5 and F6 (0/1)
If your operation does not work with MS Explorer,
you have an other problem with HGFS (Shared Folder file system).
A search at VMWare (http://www.vmware.com/) should give any (much) answers ...

Some virus scanners can cause that.
