Superfast navigation through subdirs

Post by *rien van ham »

Dear mr Ghisler,

Perhaps I'm asking something which has been asked for many times but, after working a few days with Vista and its new explorer, I would suggest the following rapid directory-change:

Suppose, I'm in a subdir:
c:\sub1\sub2\sub3\sub4\sub5
and I want to navigate to c:\sub1

I would love it if I can change to c:\sub1 if I doubleclick on the text "sub1".
(I see the same behavior in Servent Salamander; but I don't like SS).

Thank you!

TC-Help Index->3. Operation->a. User interface->Current directory wrote:Current directory

...
A double click on this line opens the directory hotlist, which allows to quickly change to often used directories. A right click opens the context menu for the current directory, and a slow right click (one second) opens the history of already visited directories.

Clicking on a part of the path while holding down the Shift key will switch directly to that directory. Example: The current dir is c:\windows\system, and you shift+click on "windows". This will switch directly to c:\windows.

... and you can change this behaviour with
TC-Help Index/4b. (INI-File settings: wincmd.ini) wrote:InplaceRenamePath=2
2: Disable inplace rename of path, but enable quick directory changes with single click (no shift needed)
You still can edit the path by pressing Shift-F6 when the cursor is on the [..] folder
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

If you are inside the root directory you should check the following setting:
TC-Help Index/4b. (INI-File settings: wincmd.ini) wrote:ShowParentDirInRoot=0 Shows parent directory [..] also in the root directory (c:\ etc.)

Try this:
http://locate32.webhop.org/

Is that what you looking for?

LOCATE is very fast!
After that if you want to use inside TC, use Fast Search Engine plugin.

Maybe the next improvement of plugin will have something new features, for fast locate of files&directories, history and real time filtering (like Vista).

Best wishes,
