About panel width switch...

Post by *Raymond »

In tc6, set current panel width to, for example, 80/20, then switch to Brief view, Full view, Comments view or Thumbnails view, panel width will automatically return back to 50/50.

Try the same in tc7b3, only Comments view will switch back to 50/50, other three views will stay in 80/20.

I'm not sure if it's by design, at least kinda unconsistent.

It is not quite true.

In TC7 the width of Brief View, Full View, Thumbnails View, Custom Column View and Branch View are saved in the Divider= parameter. The width of the Comments view is saved in the DividerComments=, and the width of the QuickView is saved in the DividerQuickView= parameter.

All those 3 settings are found under the current resolution - for example under [1024x768 (8x16)].

You save the position of the current divider by using the "Preferences" -> "Save Position" in the menu.

I'm not talking about after "Save Position".
Try to make it more clear:
Suppose we are now in Full view and divider is 50/50.
1. move divider to 80/20
2. press SHIFT+F1 and select "Brief", in tc6 divider will switch back to 50/50, in tc7b3 divider will stay 80/20, you can see the difference.
3. press SHIFT+F1 and select "Comments", in tc6 divider will switch back to 50/50, in tc7b3 divider will also switch back to 50/50. so you can see the unconsistent (compare with step 2).

NO - it will switch back to the value of DividerComments wich might be 500 in your case (or not set)

Try enabeling Comments view and move the divider and then save the position and shut down TC. Then reopen TC and do your no 3 again - the devider will move to the new position you saved - not to 50/50. This applies to both TC7 and TC6

But you are right concerning switching between Brief View, Full View, Thumbnails View, Custom Column View and Branch View - in TC7 the divider position is maintained in TC6 it is moved back to the default.

Indeed this change was by design, because several people complained about the TC6 behaviour.
