Whish: Edit file from Lister
Sometimes I'm viewing a lot of files and I need to edit someone "on the fly".
Provide F4 (edit file) from Lister to launch configured editor for the same file.

Another workaround: http://www.ghisler.ch/wiki/index.php/AutoHotkey:_Start_Notepad_In_Lister
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!
Because the plugin takes too long to load, because a viewer should be a viewer and because I like the editor I currently use (SciTE).Sir_SiLvA wrote: why not use a plugin like SynEdit?
In the search results you can only use the viewer (F3). Things gets worse when you can't "Feed to listbox" (when inside archives IIRC).
So +1. This would be indeed a very fine addition and it shouldn't take long to implement.
You're wrong. I use it and I also think it's too slow. When you run it from usb drive connected to poor quality USB 1.1 port, while copying something from the drive, it can take forever to load. 10 seconds? I've seen this many times.Sir_SiLvA wrote:That proofs u never used that Plugin...astrotzky wrote:Because the plugin takes too long to load, because a viewer should be a viewer and because I like the editor I currently use (SciTE).Sir_SiLvA wrote: why not use a plugin like SynEdit?
But fortunately there's Alt+Shift+F3 which runs lister w/out plugins, which starts in 1-2 seconds in this case. Still slow, but definitely better..
Actually it's a disk - so it has a delay and (while connected to USB 1) poor speed. Even worse than a stick. You're right here. But being "fast" is a relative thing. In such situation I can consider TC (and lister) fast - I know nothing that would do such things for me faster.Sir_SiLvA wrote:So its YOUR USB Stick that is slow NOT
TC and the PLUGINS....
But gains from additional SynEdit capabilities are usually c.a. 0.1 sec/file and aren't (usually) worth spending extra 5+ seconds.
Again: Is SynEdit slow? Even when there's no as powerful and faster tool, it's still too slow.
Of course, only in this unusual case, when TC runs from a busy USB drive. As I said, I use SynEdit.

Your suggestion is already done in UV (you may add toolbar button which calls Notepad and assign it to F4 key).Sometimes I'm viewing a lot of files and I need to edit someone "on the fly".

Perhaps the plugin apploader ( http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/edloader.html ) can help you. (temporarily I hope)
