Multi Rename Tool BUG? TC7RC1

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Multi Rename Tool BUG? TC7RC1

Post by *tei »

Hi,

Been trying out TC 7RC1. And having problems with the multi rename tool.
The problem occurs when selecting some files, going into multi rename tool and select from "Upper/Lowercase" dropdown list. Selecting whatever in that dropdown list and press start, it does nothing.

If I however choose to enter something into the rename mask and select something in the "Upper/Lowercase" dropdown list, it works.

(Using winxp eng)

apologize if this have been reported before, but could not find any info about it.

That's on purpose - without a mask no renaming will take place - so if you ONLY want change Upper/lowercase you need at least [N] as file name mask and [E] as Extension mask.

Nothing has been changed in that respect compared to previous versions of TC.

Maybe you could post a screenshot, so we know what we're talking about?
In my case it looks like this - and works without a problem.
Who the hell is General Failure, and why is he reading my disk?

The picture you submitted corresponds to my situation, the only thing is that the files aint being renamed.

UPDATE: copied over a backed up wincmd.ini and it works again. Is there a setting that could do this to the multi rename tool ?

If you have "Configuration" -> "Display" -> "Show old 8.3 filenames lowercase (like explorer)" enabled - then you can not see that files have been renamed to all uppercase if the file names are < 9 characters long. Ini-setting: Small83Names=1
