File Find: Problem with pasting special characters

Good afternoon

If I have the following string in the ClipBoard:

*•*.*

[• has Asc Value 149]

and paste this Text in *any* of the Textfields in TCMD's
File Find dialogue, then something like
*|*.*
is displayed.

Fortunately, TCMD searches right, but again does display
the wrong characters in the results window.

Confirmed,

but only in the case of a non true type font like "MS Sans serif" selected as "Dialog box font".

Solution:
Change the dialog box font to any other true type font like "Tahoma", "Trebuchet MS", or "Microsoft Sans serif".

It seems that "MS Sans serif" is still the default dialog box font when starting with a fresh ini-file!

• You are right, I can't reproduce that here, I use Zurich CN BT (narrow complete TT font).

• It should't ! In theory, the default font when installing is Microsoft Sans Serif which contains all needed characters…

• Unfortunately, MS Sans Serif is still the font in which the programme is written internally…
Hence, it springs up here and there from time to time…
- Some French-speaking users keeping old INIs have it still for ages, when it was the default for the dialogues etc.,
and never “put their noses” in the options to update them…
- That causes big issues for me to make correct translations (and rows with the Author !) …

- But yet, a complete “Dina” bitmap font exists (free of charge).
- I've sent it to the Author, hoping he'll use it when the programme is largely rewritten
(let's say, when the full Unicode support is implemented, so for 7.5 or 8.0, with a newer Delphi too)

That's not a Total Commander bug, MS just forgot some characters in "MS Sans Serif"...

Thanks a lot for all the answers and the solution:

Change the dialog box font to any other true type font like "Tahoma",
"Trebuchet MS", or "Microsoft Sans serif".

I had "Microsoft Sans serif" for all settings, except for
the dialog box font...

But: I never changed that, so it seems that TotalCommander
uses (used?) as default dialog box Font "MS Sans serif" and if
this is true, then it is a TotalCommander problem. [A 'default'
user is not able to recognize that he should change the font
to solve that problem.]

That's not a Total Commander bug, MS just forgot some characters in "MS Sans Serif"...

• OMG ! “some characters” is a sweet euphemism !

• 29 upper ANSI characters are missing in that font !

- Some parts of the programme use that hellish internal font you use for programming ( i.e. the drive hints…)
and it's impossible to write that one wishes properly…
• What about the Dina font for the programme-scripts ?
It's suitable, free, and though it supports only sizes 8 and 10 IIRC, this is not a big deal…

Hm, I also like the Dina font and use it already quite a while in my programming Editor.

But isn't Dina a monospace font? This might look a bit weird in Dialogs, plus it would need more room because even an 'l' occupies the full character width. But perhaps there exists a proportional version of Dina, too, I don't know that...

• Currently like I said above, we might have Microsoft Sans Serif as the default font…
Under Win 9x, it can be replaced with Arial (complete) which exists even in Win3.1…
Use the [FontSubstitutes] section in <Win.ini>
- The most good plugins now are using it, or Tahoma we requested for some ones,
so we have no more font issues with them…
- I mean : As the internal scripts font, when the interface font is not configurable (that's rare for plugins).
