Online help in CHM format

Post by *clauderenaud »

Hi all,

From the support area of the website, we can find a winhelp version of the Total Commander help system.
I would like to know if a chm version of the help system is planned in the future ?
(it would be easier for me to read it with my screen reader)
Regards,

I have put the CHM for TC 6.55 (and 6.56) here:
https://plugins.ghisler.com/img/totalcmd_chm.zip

Just unzip to the Totalcmd directory and restart TC.

:) Hello !

• If that could help you, the English HTML Tutorial is updated for the 7.0 and online here :
http://marmouset.atspace.com/helptc/index.htm

• There are some additional chapters, i.e. about the internal commands, etc.

 Kind regards,
Claude

2. Will there be one chm online help for the 7.x milestone ?

Thank you Clo :!: , BTW is it possible to download an offline version of your Tc7 English tutorial in Hlp, Chm or Pdf?.

I've found this file http://perso.orange.fr/charries/download/new/totcomm-tut-en.rar on your website but is in Htlm, thanks again.

When in French ?

:) Again…

• Glad to hear it could help you.

- These folders exist for five years already, and now I'm helped by Paul Vansumsen_friend who hosts them,
controls and write some topics…

• It's a pity that some good clever programmer didn't write you reader-programme in¦for French :(
- Maybe some problem of licence?
• I've a friend-neighbour who has the same issue, he must hear in English…

Original is CHM

Post by *Clo »

:) Hello !

• Indeed the CHM versions are @ download for ages,
since their origine was tests with the Author in order to change the Help format…
- We made the HTML-sources available in the case where some bold users want to translate them into other languages
(that's a HUGE job, mainly because the screen-shots - a lot - to remake¦update as localized…)

• Then, we thought too that since we have the HTML sources always, why not put them readable directly “online”,
that could be helpful and easier for users like clauderenaud.

- TC is getting more and more complex, so maybe some details could be missing still in the Tutos,
hence any feedback is welcome !

- Thank you for your interest.

Hi Clo !.

On your webpage both (French/English) Chm files are 7.0 version, but only French version says is 7.0x.

totcomm-chm.zip - Aide-tutoriel de Total Commander 7.0x au format CHM
total-commander-tutorial.zip - Total Commander 6.5x Tutorial - 32 bits only - CHM
Thanks :) .

:) We'll fix that when the 7.0 final is available, till today we had only RCs, so it's not quite OK…

Thank you for the detail.

Nice help, Clo, thanx!

I would say that the content is very good.
However, I doubt that the presentation is suitable for the majority of TC users.
I somehow feel, that it is too much decorated and "cute", which is not exactly in the spirit of TC.

With HTML you can use CSS to separately develop the look of the page...
Do you think it would be possible to create an alternate "look" for your help?

Suitable for me

:) Hello !

• There is a 62.6 KiB CSS in the English HTML folder…
- These Tutorials have not been designed for all users (especially not for the wet blanket !) but for
those who have a bad sight (more or less) and also for the youngest …

• So, we'll keep the look as is, the main structure (lists) is easy to modify and update, the icon-bullets are meaningful
and avoid to repeat endlessly (Note… Remark… Warning… and so on).

Cute means also “clever”, I guess that TC is a so clever programme … and these Tutos too :P
