COPY to printer

Post by *dors »

Copenhagen (DK) 25.8.2003

I want to send a .PS-file (Postscript) directly to a network printer. I seem to recall that this was possible in earlier versions by pressing F5 (COPY) and entering "LPT2:" with or without the ":". I am quite sure that it was also possible in good old Norton Commander!

Now I get an error message telling me to remove the write protection. If I write "Copy filename.ps lpt2:" in the TC command line field nothing happens either, not even an errror meassage.

I would like to see this feature in a future TC version (unless it is there already, but I haven't found/understood it yet).

regards

Are you sure your network printer is mapped to LPT2 ?

For my local printer on LPT1 it still works fine !

Does it work from the native Command Prompt (cmd.exe)?

F5 should work (it does work here), but WITH the ":" at the end.

Pressing F5 on the file

F:\prn&ps-filer\GWAVA-errors.ps

and entering "LPT2:" in the To-field results in this error message from Total Commander:

"Error: Cannot write F:\prn&ps-filer\LPT2:!
Please remove the write protection
[Skip] [Retry] [Abort]"
