Isn't it time to add "Removeable media (CD/USB)" check box for "Show icons to the left of the filename" option under "Icons" section?
It could help on this kind of problems:
TC slow browsing on optical media.
Folders on a DVD-Drive
P.S. I wonder how many users are still using floppy disks this times...
