Thx for a link. It's interesting project. I've even added it into my bookmarks. Even if it just a beginnin it works for me quicker than some of the others copetitors. I think that if they add TC plugins full support it will be very big step into reasonable alternative.
Btw. I thought that it is unfair to add TC's plugs supp. instead of creating completely new but... changed my mind. I hope that locate32 author will implement it too as I've suggested him :)

It's unfair, yes, but i think that it's the only way to do a reasonable(and good) F.M. if the program is Open Source, in any case it continues being unfair.

I must say that I absolutely don't know the terms the license for the plugis developers and users, if there are any.

I mean that I don't know if it's legal to use the interphase of plugins in other programs.

Plugins have their own licences. It is strange because it is not needed to implement full API so... how could it ibe illegal to load library and give it the handle to your own window (vide lister plugins)?

Some plug-ins may only be used with a certain program - TCBurner for example may be used only with Total Commander. I don't who is to blame if the plug-in is used in another file manager. The author of the other file manager or the user?

I don't have anything against other authors implementing the Total Commander plugin interface. To the contrary, it's very good - the more programs support it, there more plugins will be available, so Total Commander users will benefit too!

About TCBurner: The plugin writer has limited its use to Total Commander, because his company wants to sell the burning toolkit. If the plugin could be used freely in any other program, they couldn't sell their toolkit any more...

I have tried quite a few since I came to Vista. Only a few support Vista and some haven't been active for years. I used powerdesk for years but it had a worm in vista and got no response from vcom. Opus is nice but expensive and too complex for an old man like me. wxComander is very similar to tc but since I use the ppc TC I chose TC and am very happy with it. Just wished it would replace explorer automatically.

Thanks for link to FileCommander. Since it's Open Source
and supports Lister plugins I'll add link at

I've just find File Navigator:
http://relaxander.webest.net/fn/

Quite nice and has something that (I think) TC doesn't have: files extensions assignment for viewer and editor.

You can associate file extensions with an external viewer (usually opened by Alt+F3) under Configuration -> Edit/View -> Associations

Pretty poor file manager:

http://www.freewarefiles.com/folderviewer_program_26220.html

I write that one because it has a feature that TC lacks called "Data View". You can use Excell-like data filtering that has already been mentioned in 2005 here:

http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=59080

Maybe someday...

Where is the problem for having the same in TC?

1. Just download this or that.

2. Modify your column view
