Extensions of packages turning into all-caps

Post by *now »

Why is it that Total Commander sets the extension of packages it creates in capitals? I'd much rather have example.zip than example.ZIP or example.7Z. Is there some hidden setting I've missed?

Thanks!

Packing a folder named:

EXAMPLE -> EXAMPLE.ZIP
example -> example.zip
MyExample -> MyExample.zip

Very consistent IMHO ...

Ah, OK. However, if I select multiple items in a directory without lowercase characters, for example “2007-06”, it will default to “2007-06.ZIP”. Perhaps that’s to be expected, having uppercase be the default if no lowercase or uppercase letters appear in the name, but if I then check “Create separate archives, one per selected file/dir”, it remains uppercase, even though the subdirectories themselves all contain lowercase letters.

Perhaps there’s no good solution here, but perhaps defaulting to lowercase makes sense in this particular case?

I agree, with “Create separate archives, one per selected file/dir” defaulting to lower case is more feasible.
Best solution: case is chosen for each file separately.
