@Peter
Some time ago there was a discusion in the german TC forum
Please provide me exact link, I cannot find it (I'm not native German speaker)
Scale factor of block mode:
Well, currently block is grayed (gathered all small files/dirs) when this block so small that it's impossible to write anything inside it. Your scale factor probably will gray files that previously could be displayed in normal way. When it could be useful?

For example when I want to "display all MP3 which are bigger than 500 kB". In that case a directory without many great files is diplayed in are large picture, folders with less great files are displayed in a small picture.

But I think users could live without that function ..

I found it here (from 2004).
http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=3283

Order of sorting:
"Sort item by size" and "... by name" could have an ascending and a descending sort-order.

Extension chart / Depth of analysis:
The extension chart shows all files in all subdirectories. Maybe you can ad an option for "analyse only files in selected directories / analyse all files in all subdirectories"

Select files by clicking on bar of file-type:
I think that in this thread was already the idea to select the files by doubleclick on the file-type-bar in "extension chart". Here is a dependency on the suggestion above (Depth of analysis)

I can't see anything new to translate since beta3 - is that correct?
Yes, but there are few LNG files that are not completed like
Dutch, French, Norwegian
and don't forget about new languages.
There are 2 Dutch language files provided with VisualDirSize. One file is called Dutch.lng (not up-to-date) and Nederlands.lng (up-to-date).

:) Hello !

• The French LNG had been updated one year ago for ß3, I wonder you didn't get it…
- Anyway, I have resent it today via e-mail.

• Like Petermad points out, there is nothing more to translate, as far as I saw.

- Aside, please let's know when the ß4 bugs are fixed, I would like to test it working with the right French LNG…

@Peter
Order of sorting:
I'll consider it.
"analyse only files in selected directories"
You can do it currently. Just type directory1\ directory2\ in Scan Filtering window and then press Show only directories button.
Select files by clicking on bar of file-type:
I think that in this thread was already the idea to select the files by doubleclick on the file-type-bar in "extension chart". Here is a dependency on the suggestion above (Depth of analysis)
Just type "*.extension" for instance *.exe in Scan Filtering window.

Nederlands.lng file hasn't been included in VDS distribution since ver 1.1 IIRC

@Clo
I have resent it today via e-mail.
Thanks, I recived it.
please let's know when the ß4 bugs are fixed
Probably tomorrow I'll release fixed version

Hello

it seems that my english is worse that I thought ..

There are two misunderstandings.
kajoj1 wrote:

I don't mean to "filter by name" but to "filter by depth (number of subdirectories)". For example I set the option to "Depth 1" - the program will analyse only the dirs and files in the choosen directory, but will ignore all files in the subdirs.

Example: I use "Extensions chart" and check some folders. In one folder I see that there are some "BAK-files" which I have to delete. Now I have to use the TC commands (Strg-B or Alt-F7) to find the Baks, to select and to delete them. My suggestion is that I click on the bar which displays the BAK - and all BAKs are selected. Now I can copy, delete, move them ....

Best regards

OK now I understand. But what should VDS display in your example? You wrote VDS should analyse all files and subdirs in directory and later VDS should ignore all files in subdirs. So it should display only files without subdirs. (You can do it by typeing *.* | *.*\ in Scan Filtering window). It was for Depth 1.
Depth 2 could be files in actual directory and subdirs but counted with files only.
Depth 3 and more would be more confusing for users than useful.

So I think that only Depth 2 could be useful..
My suggestion is that I click on the bar which displays the BAK - and all BAKs are selected. Now I can copy, delete, move them ....
I assume that files should be selected in opposite TC panel. It's not possible because I cannot do anything in opposite TC panel from VDS. Lister interface doesn't allow such operations.

Yes, this sounds rather confusing. It is tricky that the Bar- and Pie-Chart are working with Filter and File/Subdirs-toggling; Bar chart disable File/Subdirs-toggling and Extension chart disable both File/Subdirs-toggling and Filtering. And the main aim of my suggestion was the Extension Chart.
kajoj1 wrote:...(You can do it by typeing *.* | *.*\ in Scan Filtering window). It was for Depth 1.
Thats right, but a button in the menu would be more comfortable.

I think that you are right.

OK - it's a pity .

Well I haven't received any signals from users that they need Show only dir in Block mode. Anyway I can put it in my todo list.
And the main aim of my suggestion was the Extension Chart.
Extension chart is designed to show overview of all extensions in directory. That’s why Filter function is disabled.
In this view there are no dirs displayed only extensions so Show only dir button is also disabled.

Nederlands.lng file hasn't been not included in VDS distribution since ver 1.1 IIRC
Thanks for the answer. Then I no longer need to translate it since the Dutch.lng is by someone else.

There is no exclusivity for translating LNG files. People just send me their translations and I include them in every VDS distribution. So please keep translating and send me every new ver of LNG files.
There are 2 Dutch language files provided with VisualDirSize. One file is called Dutch.lng (not up-to-date) and Nederlands.lng (up-to-date).
I'm not sure if it's necessary to keep Dutch and Nederlands. If so then I'll include both of them. I'm not navite speaker of any of those languages and I cannot determine if something is necessary or not.
That's why it's important role of you Translators.

@All Translators
I'm thinking about changing help system in VDS. I'd like to change help file from help_english.html to help.html. Than this file could be translated to any language. Such translated files could be downloaded in separate form like CHM help files for TC. So every translator of help file could create it as he wants (include extra pics or add some more description).
Why I don't want to include them in VDS package? Because such help files with extra images could be bigger than VDS itself. When separated, user could just download package with extra help file in his/her language and install it.

What do you think about this?

Hello

after my suggestions I tested software and language and translation; here some remarks:

Functions:
HTML-Report in Block Mode:
The report displays "Total different extensions - 0", although there are three filetype in a folder. The final table has only titles (Name, size, Files, ...), but no data.

Name of Color Scheme:
The name can be edited, but not saved. Is it possible to disable the edit-function - or to add "Save with customer defined name"?
(Does it work with names, edited in the ini-file?)

TC-Searches:
The "pulldown-menu" is very small so that the names of the TC-searches are truncated.
The length of the combox is a liitle too small for long search-strings.
It seems that "TC searches" takes only the file and folder definition of the search, but not the additional definition (time, size, ..). So an "import" of only part of search-definitions can be confusing.

Removing color schemes:
To you think about a "Delete selected color scheme" function?

Language:
Dialogues:
I think "Import TC Settings" should be replaced by "Import TC Colors" or "Set TC Colors", because the Fonts are not affected.

"Save current scheme" should be replaced by "Add scheme to list" becuase only OK saves changes to current scheme; the "save .." command always adds a new scheme.

Help-File:
"Use the TC Searches button to the left of the screen... " -> it is on the right side.

German.lng:
I modified it a little bit - some small thinks of personal style and the changes which I suggested above.

It seems that there is no necessary to change anything in help system.
I haven't received any comments about my idea...

@Clo
Help from 1.3b3 is again in ver 1.3b5

@Peter
HTML-Report in Block Mode:
Name of Color Scheme:
The "pulldown-menu" is very small so that the names of the TC-searches are truncated.
The length of the combox is a liitle too small for long search-strings.
Fixed. Thanks for reporting. Please redownload new version.
Removing color schemes:
"Save current scheme" should be replaced by "Add scheme to list"
Done.
It seems that "TC searches" takes only the file and folder definition of the search, but not the additional definition (time, size, ..). So an "import" of only part of search-definitions can be confusing.
VDS takes only TC searches that include file masks. Scan Filtering currently not support other options like time, size and so on.
I think "Import TC Settings" should be replaced by "Import TC Colors" or "Set TC Colors", because the Fonts are not affected.
"Import TC Colors" really imports everything that in located in frame Appearance.

New beta (1.3b5) is ready to download and test. get it from my site
Changes:
- Added buttons "New schema", "Delete schema" in Configuration dialog
"New schema" copies actual settings into new schema while "Save current schema" saves changes in active schema
- Mask selected in Scan Filtering is added to button tooltip, so it's possible to see what mask is currently used
- Some corrections in Configuration dialog
- Some corrections in Scan Filtering dialog
- Some other small improvements.
LNG file is changed again...
