Drag and drop.

Post by *bsaksida1 »

I have a few times opend a Winrar then transfer file to location e.g. C:\WinRarExtractedFiles. Normaly winrar transfers in temp folder, witch is automatcly C:\Document And Settings\User\Local Settings\Temp.

After winrar extracts, the total commander ask to drop to location e.g.: C:\WinRarExtractedFiles. Then a big 4 GB file is copyied and then deleted from source. Of course this method is very limited. Why dont you use same as moving options. If it is same partition, it only moves.

Second, ability to disable such messages and automatcly do it.

If for techincal purpose that in temp file must be a file with same name, then TC coud create 0KB fake file. the first option is good if someone doesn't have enough space for 3rd procedure (Copying to location) and speed.

Do you mean Drag&Drop from outside of TC (winrar.exe), or from an opened RAR archive inside of TC?

I can't use move. Why? The extraction is done by WinRAR. Then TC receives the "Drop" message with flag "Copy". Total Commander cannot know that the source file is just a temporary file, it could as well be a normal file dropped by the Explorer.
TC doesnt hande multi archive well.
To extract a multi-volume RAR, put the cursor on the first part and use Alt+F9 unpack option. TC will then call the external winrar.exe to unpack all the parts. I'm not using unrar.dll here because when I wrote it, it didn't work. According to the RAR author it should work now, but I haven't had the time to try it yet (my wish list is several 1000 wishes long, sorry).
