Cannot see certain files / directories in Windows XP 64 bits

With TC 7.02a I cannot see the directory c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc and I cannot see most of the files in c:\windows\system32\drivers\ in Windows XP 64 bits.

I noticed it when I tried to edit the hosts file on my Windows XP 64 bits workstation. Maybe there are more files TC doesn't show in XP 64 bits...
I also tried it on a clean install (in a VM), but the results are the same. Show hidden files is on, the files which are not displayed in TC are not hidden. All the files are visible in Windows Explorer though!

x64DisableRedirection=0 1: Disable the redirection of windows\system32 to windows\syswow64 directory on 64-bit Windows versions. Can have some negative side effects like non-working plugins.

I discovered the same problem

Is there a chance, the this redirect is disabled by default? I mean, I was 100% sure, that my brand new Windows 2003 Server installation is wrong, cause there are no files in this "etc" folder.
And my admin college showed me in Windows Explorer, that the files are there and TC is wrong

Ask yourself if this would help you to fix any problem with a non running 32Bit applications, if you even don't know that something like file system redirection exist on 64Bit systems.
This was imho a general design fault from M$, to keep the system32 name for new 64Bit applications.

Start the 32bit explorer:

and ask your college to do the same again.
I hope that he will find the etc-folder in reasonable time.

No, there's no chance. Disabling x64 redirection breaks some functions that need loading DLLs in run-time (e.g. some plugins try to load some DLLs and fail to do it if redirection is off: 32-bit application cannot load 64-bit DLLs). I think, it's a bad idea to make TC unusable by default.
