directory synchronization using %environment variables

In the sync tool I would like to be able to specify directory paths using environment variables, and save paths with variables in them to the sync options save list. My plan is to run TC from a batch file that sets up all sources and destinations so I can just pick a generic template from the sync save list in TC. Thank you.
