Viewers other than XnView/IrfanView for Lister

Post by *Sosna »

Is there a way to use other viewers via "Use Irfanview/XnView to load graphics other than BMP" settings, and if it is - what command line parameters are passed to those?

Hi, Sosna.

Yep. There is a small number of good alternatives. E.g Imagine.

Here are the relevant settings from wincmd.ini:
[Lister]
BmpStartup=1
Multimedia=1
IView=1
IViewPath=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\Imagine\Imagine.EXE

[ListerPlugins]
0=%COMMANDER_PATH%\plugins\Imagine\Imagine.wlx
0_detect="MULTIMEDIA"
Hopefully I have not missed any further setting inside wincmd.ini.
For Imagine commandline parameters, please, consult the imagine.hlp file.

HTH,
Karl

Currently only Irfanview, XNView and Imagine are supported. Why? The viewer has to be modified to be called from TC. The viewer continues to run hidden in the background, and TC sends the name of the image file to it via WM_COPYDATA. The viewer then either sends the image back via clipboard (old method), or via another WM_COPYDATA call (new method).

Are you using some command line parameter to start IV/XV instances or their processes properties to make them hidden in background?

:) Good evening,

• I guess you forgot Uniview by Andrej Krutak, it was supported some years ago…

- Unfortunately, that programme is discontinued, and I can't check whether it works here still with Lister
because a hitch with my machine (even as standalone, all shown pics are full green, insoluble…:( )

You may have bought a very cheap device with label "Green Technology": They saved 2/3 of energy just by dropping R+B from RGB (G=Green remains only) :mrgreen:

Which device ?

:) Hello !

• That occurs with that viewer only, I work with XnView and others, no problem…
- Moreover, that doesn't happen in its Thumb nails mode, so the hardware is not the culprit…
- But if you would have any clue about that strange issue, please contact me via e-mail or ICQ, TIA !

Here (with TC 7.04a) , UniView works still fine as Lister add-on, no problem.

thanks, that's what I was thinking of - there is some kind of integration between TC and XnV/IF, it's not just command line parameters.
