Hi, Alexey.
Although somehow option 3 reads really funny, I have voted for option 1.
For me it will not make too much difference, because T.C. is set to "Full view" most of the time here.
Only if you use "Brief View" or "Thumbnails View" more than 1 filename / foldername will be displayed on each line and the difference between the current way of colouring the whole lines versus your checkered colouring will be noticeable.
Kind regards,
Karl

Hello Karl!
Thank you for your support!
Indeed, I spend most of time working with TC in the "Brief view", and if the screen have more than one vertical column with names, but the entire horizontal line is painted into one solid color, then all the columns looks as related to the same line (as in "Full view" mode). It brings very inconvenient look for me.
wbr, Alexey.

Hi, folks.
Perhaps the question should not be "Do you find this useful?", but rather "Do you mind if this feature is added?".
As I explained, most of the time TC will display the "full list" here. As a consequence the current "zebra colouring mode" and the suggested "chequered colouring mode" will have the same effect.
I use the two background colours all the time, because it makes reading the file lists easier. Therefore I can understand that users who prefer "brief view" over "full list" will profit from the suggested "chequered colouring".
The difference will be that now the boundary line where colour changes is the end of the line inside the file panel. In chequered colouring mode the boundary would be the end of the area which is needed to display 1 filename or 1 foldername. So in the end, no-one will loose anything. So I do not really see any good reason to object against the suggested change.
Kind regards,
Karl
