Problem installing TC 5.51

I have a problem installing TC 5.51 on my Windows XP Pro SP1 box. I choose to install the english version without other languages, INI goes in program dir. The install dir already exists, but it only contains an ini file from WC 5.01. I choose to let the installer create start menu icons, but no desktop icon.

The files are copied ok, so TC is usable. But when the installer is going to create start menu icons, it hangs. Both progress bars are at 100%, which seems to me that it's finished, but the installer won't end. Besides, the icons aren't in my start menu yet.

I'm waiting for it for about 8 minutes now, and I'm considering to create the icons myself...

The installer uses dynamic data exchange (DDE) to communicate with the Explorer and create the start menu icons. DDE hangs if ANY program on your PC is hanging/not responding. This hanging program may even be hidden/no longer visible.

You may try to reboot your PC to get rid of the hanging app, and restart the installation.

Unfortuantely there were a lot of other things messed up at my PC, for example the device manager (XP) was hanging just like the TC installer, but only for a minute, no matter what I did.

So, a reinstall
