Size column alignment bug

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Size column alignment bug

Post by *MVV »

This is a very old bug (or maybe just a strange intent?). If you have a file greater than 1 MB in size, it's size won't fit into Size column (will bulge to the left). And, as a result, will overlay with Type column sometimes. In the status bar we have the same thing.

IMO, it is necessary to make Size column fully right-aligned, so numbers and '<DIR>' strings will change position on Size column resize and won't overlay with other columns.

It has always been like that - just increase the size of your Type (Ext) column to fit the largest filesize on your system.

Yes, I know this. But agree, such action looks strange - to increase Type column width in order to fit Size column data. And all other columns are cut off if don't fit in width in contrast to Size column which acts so strange.
I just wanna know it is a bug or an intent :) And what a reason in such strange alignment? Why do not use simple right alignment? Or it is hard to realize with existing list box structure? (don't think so because correct alignment exists for custom column sets)

The colums aren't shortened because a shortened size field becomes almost unusable. I want to encourage the user to adjust the columns so the size is shown completely.
