TC6 - Two problems / wishes

Post by *avis »

Salve, I am using Total Commander for many years now and enjoy it, so I skip the candy and come straight to my problems :). Cause some of my wishes are not implemented in last versions, perhaps there is only problem to me. Perhaps you can give me hints to work it out.

1) Highlighting copied files
I often have to copy OLE-libraries and register it in target path (good old OLE is still my daily bred). Unfortunately most of them have long file names (cause naming conventions of my company) and target path is very crowded (like windows\system32). That is, where I still have to use windows explorer (at least I can open explorer window for current directory in TC quick using "."+<Enter>). After copying files in explorer (via context menu or drag-&-drop) copied files are highlighted in explorer target window. So I can find them quick or drag-&-drop it onto register tool or just hit Enter (cause regsrv32.exe is my standard association for DLL and OCX).
But TC? I can write file names per hand into quick search window, but as told: they are often long. I can compare directories and invert selection to get a clue, uncomfortable too.
Any ideas please, how to do this job using TC?

2) Column width restriction for brief view
I like brief view (Ctrl-F1) rather than full view (Ctrl-F2). Multiple columns sometimes give better overview, especially when browsing directories containing icons or small bitmaps. Unfortunately some files have long file names and TC expands column with (in brief view mode) to fit longest name. I found now way to restrict column width or make it dynamic (like small icons view in windows explorer). Well, time to hit "."+<Enter> ... or any idea please?

Thanks and ciao. Avis Suprema

1) Highlighting copied files
Try Ctrl-U, Num/ after copy.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Wow thanks, works great. I did try to use save/restore selection, but didnt think about combining with Ctrl-U.

Ciao. Avis
