Viewing Word Docs in HTMLView?

Post by *robinsiebler »

IEView would let you view Word Docs. Does HTMLView do the same?

Yes, it does.
Edit the ini file and add the extension doc to the web files definition.

I had just copied in the old section from IEView, i.e. word=.doc. That didn't work, but when I added it to the HTML extension line, it worked.

Will that also work for docx files from Office 2007?
chmod a+x /bin/laden -- Allows anyone the permission to execute /bin/laden

How do I un-overwrite all my data?

Neither doc, nor docx or other non-html file.

from history.txt
HTMLView
--------
1.0 (05.05.2006)
- All non-html functionality removed
- Toolbar
- Keys added: [Hotkeys]->TypingTranslationHotkeys, [options]->UseDefaultBrowser, [options]->ShowToolbar
unlike ieview , htmlview doesn`t allow additional filetypes, only htm, mht etc.

I'm able to view word docs in HTMLView now. I haven't ried Excel or PowerPoint, but I imagine they will work as well.

Do they view the same as they do in Word? And what version of HTMLView are you using?

They look the same as they did in IEView. Or like they would in Word if you saved the file as an HTML file instead of a doc.

Ahh, OK. So they don't look like actual DOC files would in Word then. Why not get the Office plugin for lister then? It will show DOC files like they should.

Sorry but I'm right !
The question was if HTMLview can view doc files, the answer is YES.
Using the the files known by IE it can view anything for which an Active X function is there. And they look as they look in Word for example.
I'm not expecting more for a View / Qiock View function.

Yes, you are right. I`m sorry. I beg your pardon. I was mistaken by the following sentence from the history of plugin "All non-html functionality removed".

Where you know about *.doc from? I cannot find not a one word about this possibility in readme. :? I have made some tests and surprised: htmlview can show *.pdf, but cannot *.djvu. Why? IeView can them both.

I'm not getting it to view PDF files. When I open one in lister, it shows the download box from IE.
