Vista64 & wcicolib.icl : Folder icons can't be viewed in

Post by *HBB »

I am not sure it is a bug or not! I searched forum, I did not find any topic about my problem. If it is not, please warn me.

OS : Vista 64 Home Premium
TC : wincmd.ini : StartupScreen=0, IconLib=%COMMANDER_PATH%\wcicolib.icl, UseIniInProgramDir=7, ....

I can not see my custom folder icons defined in "wcicolib.icl".
Is this normal behaviour in Vista64?

Vista doesn't support 16bit dlls.

In the german forum, they suggested
http://www.gdgsoft.com/gconvert/
to convert a 16bit DLL to 32bit.

There's also freeware like: IconShop

Can prolly drop the icl into IconShop,
Display only 16x16 16 colour icons, CTRL+A, DEL
Display only 24x24 16 colour icons, CTRL+A, DEL
Display only 32x32 16 colour icons, CTRL+A, DEL

Then save as another ICL, which may work.

To Balderstrom :

Thank you very much for your quick response and suggestions. I will try IconShop.
Vista doesn't support 16bit dlls.
I have learned the reason, thanks...

Sorry to bump an ancient thread, but anyone got any idea if it's possible to update this icon set to a 64bit version for use in W7 and how to do that?

Sorry for yet another bump just converting my old 16bit header ICL files to 32bit header ICL files. Just curious why you needed a 64bit header file version are 32bit headers not sufficient on 64bit platforms?

Apology for the bump. Just in case anyone else has to go through this conversion process, I found that after digging up the last release of IconShop on archive.org, it does not make 32bit header ICL files. Gconvert was able to convert the files.
