Hello again-again!
¤ I just watched your new captures, it's really quite incredible!
The most amazing are the false window-displays! This's more sérious than the false tick-shifts...

¤ I also tested many cases (less than you, however...), but I didn't get any false display following the ticked commands!
About the previously quoted worm-like file, please be very careful: this kind of file couln't be detected by usual AV softs, since it has no viral signature...
Whether you didn'make already, you could lauch a search to find such a file in both PCs you have at home... It could have also another name,
info at www.f-prot.com which I use the free DOS version still, for years...
¤ I've a last test to do: If you agree, I think to translate your old-style menu in French (more comfortable for us...) and I'll ask for tests to friends and to my son...

Please feel free to translate - and if you do - could I perhaps get a copy? Thank you very much for your effort.

{ EDIT } I found a minor error in your menu:
MENUITEM "&F&ile Comments\tShift+Ctrl+F2", cm_LeftComments

It's my registration number, indicates the "TC-age" of users! You can see others here... The newest may be almost #100,000 or so...
*2 means double licence (2 PCs toghether).
Since I've three PCs, I unplug one everytime; but when my son is at home (frequently!), he has his own licence = 3... All is right!
I found another small error of the same type:
MENUITEM "Sy&nchronize Dir Change Left && Right", cm_SyncChangeDir
¤ Thank you to allow the translation ... The mill turns, I made a large part already!
I'll send you a copy as ZIP, of course, including the file <totalcmd.inc> in French (error-free now!) That file works with text-strings in any language, it's just a "nice to have" for French-speaking users...
I hope that this hellish problem shall be solved soon!

Ahh I see - My registration number is #524 - I think I started with Windows Commander v. 1.30e

I found another small error of the same type:
MENUITEM "Sy&nchronize Dir Change Left && Right", cm_SyncChangeDir

NO - that is not an error - you need two &'s after each other in order to make one & that is not a "hot"-letter

Exactly! - That's why I need a double && to indicate that the second & is supposed to be taken litterally as an ampersand and not as the code for underscore/hotkey.

Try and remove the first & in && and see what happens - you get a shortcut underscore of the space before the word Right (i.e. "Synchronize Dir Change Left _ Right")
