Any way of generating .flv thumbnails?

Post by *Ampeter »

I've checked every lister plugin on totalcmdnet and it seems none can generate flash thumbnails for flash video (.flv).

Is there any way to show them in Total Commander? So far it's the only thing I miss from windows explorer, and I'd really like to replace it completely with TC :(

did U try Alexey Torgashin's File Thumbnails

you'd need a flv splitter, get it from mpc-hc project page on source forge

that probably won't work but get Codec Tweak Tool from
codecguide and in thumbnails settings enable flv
I've tested this and it works, but if U have coreAVC uninstall it as it causes explorer crashes use DivX7 or ffdshow

Yes, I tried that plugin just in case, even though it didn't say anything about .flv in the description, but it didn't work....

I already have a flv splitter and it's working fine, I can play flash video with windows media player and see flv thumbnails in windows explorer, but I can't find a way of making TC display them too :(

Are you telling me you can see them in Total Commander?? if so, what does your configuration->options->thumbnails window look like? If you uncheck "Get from Irfan-/Xnview" can you still see flv thumbnails?

I'm really confused at this point... is it possible to see them then?

I can't post images (yet)
1. install flv splitter
2. install ffdshow-tryout
3. get Codec Tweak Tool from codecguide com
4. in Codec tweak tool -> Thumbnails settings enable flv and any other format U want.
4. in TC click Thumbnail view, that's all

I didn't mess with irfan(xn)view

I should mention that the above method uses windows explorer for generating thumbs, and I'm using XP-SP3 32 bit

Thanks! you were a great help!

What still puzzles me is how could it be possible that I was seeing thumbnails in explorer no problem but not in Total Commander... oh, well, at least everything is working perfectly now...
