A reverse filter (something like -*.scc) in "Show files of type"

Do you mean all files except a certain file type? Try this:

*.* | *.scc

should be enough

The "|*.scc" syntax does not apply to directories.

IMO, it does. Have you chosen option Configuration / Options / Operation / Selection / Also select directories?
