Current item highlighting in the last active panel

Thanks for pointing out the twinkey plugin. I have installed it and I have disabled everything except the "highlight file in target panel". That works exactly as I wanted. From what I have seen so far it does not effect TC too much. I would still vote for this one option to be added to TC application.

- The main request was about a visible cursor sign of the active panel inside a non active/background TC.
- To find a color combination for two cursors (for the active and inactive panel) is not always as easy as you stated (e.g. with the non inverting cursor line or in combination with alternate background colors).
- A clear indicator for the active panel is essential for keyboard user (and yes, i disagree that the active path panel color alone is sufficient for this reason).
For this reasons and additional "I personally don't need it":
"It's no option for me"
I guess, i said this one or more times before..
May be you won't understand my points, or these points are not relevant for your usage of TC.
No matter, I'm out of this discussion now.
Kind regards
Holger

HolgerK, you need to relax my friend this is just a discussion and chrizoo was just trying to state a point.
After all, we don't want to get off the original topic here. We understand that some people couldn't give a rat's ass for this feature but others do and if Double Commander did it then it must have been asked for.

After using twinkey for a day i can say that there is a few problems. There is a slight refresh filelist issue, it seems to flicker. There is also an occasional double click problem. Most people would probably not notice. But the double click issue could be my mouse as it is getting old. But would be a coincidence.

Yes, the refresh flicker is slight with TwinKey. The double click - I haven't noticed and I use my mouse (Logitech MX518) far more than the keyboard for navigation: it's majorly tripped out with AutoHotkey.
There's also a double-click feature for locked tabs (allow dir changes), if you enable the feature,
1) double-clicking on such a tab will return it to it's locked root
2) ctrl+click: to close the tab, and
3) ctrl+RightClick to choose a tab color (background)
As well, as I mentioned you can choose watch-paths, which can do one or more of the following for a given path: change to a specific customColumn view; change the background color/or image; adding a custom icon and/or color/background in the Tab.ab.
StickyFiles are interesting as well. When you sticky a file it will stay at the top of the fileList.
And TwinKey BookMarked files have a slew of useful features.

After using twinkey for a while longer i had a problem dragging and dropping music too foobar. I removed twinkey and the problem was still there. I restarted the pc and the problem was fixed. I have never had any such type of problem prior to installing twinkey. It might not have been related to it, but it seems a coincidence.
I can confirm this bug. It appears to be from Twinkey (3rd party application - TC-Plugin). No matter if the TC has the focus - When you have selected files, and activate the window by clicking on the path-field (where the breadcrumb-bar is), you often lose the selection.sekular wrote:After using twinkey for a while longer i had a problem dragging and dropping music too foobar. I can confirm the refresh flickering from Twinkey, too.
No, it was not. This thread turned into a request because the users have to use a 3rd party application (Twinkey) to see a cursor in the inactive Panel, too.HolgerK wrote:- The main request was about a visible cursor sign of the active panel inside a non active/background TC.
Im my mind there is generally a lack of usability in the Total Commander software - which can not longer solved by its Plugins. The users often use AutoHotkey for this purpose. One can not expect the user to install tons of dubious software only for (1) to open a new tab with the middleclick or (2) browse the tabs with the mousewheel. (3) Create a cursor in the inactive panel (4)... (5)...billiebub wrote:Yes, I know Twinkey can do it but there are a fiew problems with Twinkey. First, it effects TC performance because the whole thing is a hack. Second, the highlighting does not always work. One of the things that makes TC shine is it's performance and as a performance freak, I hated Twinkey from the moment I loaded it.
Is it possible to "add" the feature defined in the subject; "Current item highlighting in the inactive panel"?
It's incredibly useful especial when doing drag&drops, and just about anything that has to do with opening a file especially mp3s and images.
It's very frustrating when you lose the last file selected where you end up clicking on the top of the panel just to see which file was last selected.
Twinkey has covered this problem for years but we all know that it's a hack. I believe TC as a mature app should already contain this feature. I would love to see this in the next TC.
Please consider this, this would then go under the "Color" tab. Please.

That's exact the moment when TC goes in the background and the cursor in the active panel disappears.billiebub wrote:It's incredibly useful especial when doing drag&drops, and just about anything that has to do with opening a file especially mp3s and images.

Because it's a hack...
It seems to be like that: When one have selected some files and starts to drag&drop with the mouse from TCs sourcewindow, the selection is gone (by the first tick). Probably related to hardware like mouse, laptops and touchpad-drivers or software.sekular wrote:After using twinkey for a while longer i had a problem dragging and dropping music too foobar.
That had never happend before with the standalone Total Commander without Twinkey.

Remember that TC 8.0 is mostly a bugfix and an x64 port version - almost no new features - so don't give up hope.
