How to preview videos with lister?
Hi!
I've been using Mplayer4TC for a long time but its getting to frustrating to use. It hangs with a lot of files the aspect ratio changing isn't working anymore, etc.
What alternatives are available? (That are preferably less bugged)
I've searched around a bit. I only found this thread that seemed relevant. http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=29351
Its in german so I don't understand much, but it seems the person there had those files open externally with mplayer, which would be fine by me. What I don't understand is what does syn2 have to do with it. Or is that something separate?

http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/mmedia.html can play evrything that Windows mediaplayer can play - it seems pretty steady to me.

Thanks! Does it still work with win 7? Looks a tad outdated.petermad wrote:http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/mmedia.html can play evrything that Windows mediaplayer can play - it seems pretty steady to me.
Thanks! Looks interesting. I see it has ffdshow built in. Actually an english version of the guide you linked in the first post would be nice. Is there a translation available somewhere?Vochomurka wrote:http://rghost.ru/users/arax/releases/mLister

Yes - if you set it up to use WMP 7+ it simply just uses Windows 7's Media Player 12Does it still work with win 7?

This mlister is good, but unfortunately it can crash TC when the filetype is not something that it expects it to be. (Sometimes only the plugin crashes)
Can this be reported to the dev somehow?
I'm still interested trying out opening the video files in an external program explained here:

I just can't figure out where to put the extensions section...brch wrote:Ich habe lange herumgespielt und hatte einen Gedankenblitz.
Um zu verhindern das der Lister im Quick Mode die Videos wider gibt habe ich sie einfach einem Plugin zugewiesen
Als Player habe ist dann einen Externen Player Verknüpft wie ich es schon mit der PDF gemacht hatte.Code: Select all
[ListerPlugins] 6=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wlx\Syn2\Syn2.wlx 6_detect="ext="flv" | ext="f4v" | ext="mp4" | ext="mpeg" | ext="mpg" | ext="m4v" | ext="mkv" | ext="avi" | ext="mov" | ext="mpl" | ext="m2v" | ext="asd" | ext="asf" | ext="divx" | ext="nsv" | ext="rm" | ext="rmvb" | ext="wmv" | ext="wma" | ext="mp3" | ext="m4a""
Wenn aber jemand ein Gutes Plugin für Videos kennt nur her damit.Code: Select all
[Extensions] flv=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.flv f4v=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.f4v mp4=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.mp4 mpeg=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.mpeg mpg=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.mpg m4v=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.m4v mkv=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.mkv avi=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.avi mov=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.mov mpl=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.mpl m2v=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.m2v asd=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.asd asf=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.asf divx=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.divx nsv=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.nsv rm=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.rm rmvb=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.rmvb wmv=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.wmv wma=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.wma mp3=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.mp3 m4a=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\mplayer\MPUI.exe ^.m4a pdf=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\PDF\SumatraPDF.exe -esc-to-exit ^.pdf xps=%COMMANDER_PATH%\Tools\PDF\SumatraPDF.exe -esc-to-exit ^.xps
Das mit dem Externen Player ist nicht gerade meine liebste Lösung.
Außer es gibt noch einen besseren als den Mplayer den man über die Tastatur steuern kann.

In wincmd.ini, see menu Help - About Total Commander for its location. Please check whether there is already such a section. If yes, you need to add the above lines to it instead of adding a second section.

Well, I did, but nothing happens. The video files are shown as text.ghisler(Author) wrote:In wincmd.ini, see menu Help - About Total Commander for its location. Please check whether there is already such a section. If yes, you need to add the above lines to it instead of adding a second section.
I even tried installing syn2 and modifying its lines. Like in the first part.
But nothing seems to work.

These lines are for choosing the viewer when you press Alt+F3, not for viewing them within lister with F3. You can change the external viewer to F3 in configuration - options - viewer/editor.

Ok, it seems like the problem was that I had to change the radio button to external viewer. I didn't know that. I always thought that was for replacing lister completely.ghisler(Author) wrote:These lines are for choosing the viewer when you press Alt+F3, not for viewing them within lister with F3. I don't know russian language so I gave up with their forum and started some experiments on my own:avada wrote:This mlister is good, but unfortunately it can crash TC when the filetype is not something that it expects it to be. (Sometimes only the plugin crashes)...
there is a file called filters.ini in filters folder - it makes windows to use mpc splitters as source filters and ffdshow as decoder. Even if you have installed others - they will not run.
If you want to use your prefered splitters/decoders then remove all entries from above file (filter.ini) and then mlister will run what you have in your system - it won't crush so easily.
for example: as splitters you can use free: av splitter (that one is a good start since you can built your own graphs with it - and there is no such possibility directly in mplister), lav splitter or haali. As decoders I'm using lav filters / built in microsoft's / coreavc (not free).
With such combination that plugin is working perfectly fine on all the formats you enter in mlister.ini file
hope that helps a little
